Description

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Second Growth of the 1855 Classification in Pauillac, with vineyards bordering Château Latour and reaching into Saint-Julien. Owned since 2007 by the Rouzaud family of Champagne Louis Roederer, the estate is renowned for wines that combine Pauillac power with unusual finesse, thanks in part to a higher proportion of Merlot than most of its neighbors. The 2021 is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged in French oak; it reflects a cooler, classically styled vintage with freshness and elegance.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Blackcurrant, red cherry, violet, graphite and cedar. Palate: Medium- to full-bodied and silky, with bright dark fruit, fine minerality and refined, chalky tannins. Finish: Long and fresh, with lingering cassis, spice and floral notes.

Decant for one to two hours in its youth and serve at 62-65°F. Ideal with roast lamb, veal chop or game birds.
