Description

Château Pichon Longueville Baron is a Second Growth of the 1855 Classification, its turreted château facing Château Latour across the road in Pauillac. Owned by AXA Millésimes since 1987, the estate has been restored to the top tier of the Médoc, drawing its grand vin from the oldest vines on its finest gravel plateau. The wine is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and is aged in French oak, a large share of it new.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Intense blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, cedar and violet. Palate: Full-bodied, powerful and refined, with dense dark fruit, cocoa, tobacco and ripe, firm tannins. Finish: Very long, with layers of cassis, minerality and toasted spice.

Best with extended cellaring; when young, decant for two hours and serve at 62-65°F. Pair with rack of lamb, prime rib or aged Comté.

Pauillac, Bordeaux · Second Growth (Deuxième Cru Classé) · Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant
