Description

Château Prieuré-Lichine is a Fourth Growth of the 1855 Classification in the Margaux appellation, its name recalling the Benedictine priory that once owned the land and Alexis Lichine, the influential wine writer who purchased it in 1951. Its vineyards are spread across many parcels in Margaux, giving a broad range of gravel terroirs. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with some Petit Verdot, aged in French oak; this half-bottle is ideal for sharing between two.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Blackcurrant, red cherry, violet, cedar and a touch of vanilla. Palate: Medium-bodied and elegant, with bright dark fruit, floral lift and fine tannins. Finish: Graceful and moderately long, with cassis and spice.

Serve at 60-65°F, with a short decant if young. Pairs well with lamb chops, filet mignon or roast duck.
