Description

Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest wine estates in Bordeaux, named for Bertrand de Goth, the archbishop of Bordeaux who became Pope Clement V in the early 14th century. Classified as a Cru Classé de Graves and owned by Bernard Magrez, the estate sits in Pessac on the edge of the city of Bordeaux. This Pessac-Léognan Rouge is a blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, matured in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Blackcurrant, black cherry, graphite, smoke and toasted cedar. Palate: Full-bodied and polished, with ripe dark fruit, cocoa, tobacco leaf and fine, firm tannins. Finish: Long and savory, with lingering cassis, gravelly minerality and spice.

Decant for an hour or more in its youth and serve at 60-65°F. A classic match for roast lamb, grilled ribeye, duck breast and aged hard cheeses.
