Created under the direction of Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Chris Morris, this distinctive expression incorporates malted barley smoked with cherry wood, introducing an intriguing layer of sweet smoke and toasted complexity to Woodford Reserve’s signature bourbon character.
Unlike heavily peated whiskies, the cherry wood smoke is designed to complement rather than dominate the whiskey. The result combines traditional bourbon sweetness with roasted grain, fruit, spice, and a delicate smoky character.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Inviting notes of sweet cherry wood smoke, toasted malt, caramel and vanilla layered with ripe fruit, cocoa, warm baking spices and seasoned oak.
Palate: Rich and complex with dark caramel, toasted barley, vanilla and roasted nuts, developing into dried cherry, dark chocolate, cinnamon and warm oak. A distinctive thread of sweet, gently charred cherry wood smoke runs throughout the palate.
Finish: Long and warming with lingering toasted grain, caramel, cocoa, baking spice, oak and soft wood smoke.
