Description

Rodney Strong Vineyards was founded in 1959 by Rodney Strong, one of Sonoma County's wine pioneers, and is based in Healdsburg, where the Klein family has owned and farmed the estate since 1989. Alexander's Crown is a hilltop estate vineyard in Alexander Valley and the source of the winery's flagship single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, a bottling that helped establish the vineyard-designate tradition in Sonoma County. It is aged in French oak to frame the site's concentrated fruit.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Blackcurrant, black cherry and plum with notes of cedar, graphite, mocha and dried herbs. Palate: Full-bodied and structured, with layered dark fruit, dark chocolate and baking spice over firm, polished tannins. Finish: Long and powerful, with lingering cassis, espresso and toasted oak.

Decant before serving with dry-aged steak, rack of lamb or braised beef; built to reward several years of cellaring.
