Description

Poderi Luigi Einaudi was founded in 1897 in Dogliani, in Piedmont's Langhe hills, by Luigi Einaudi, the economist and statesman who later became President of the Italian Republic. Still family-owned, the estate has built holdings in several of Barolo's most celebrated crus. This Barolo comes from the Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba, a large amphitheater of vineyards known for powerful yet refined Nebbiolo, aged in oak before release.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Red cherry, dried rose, licorice and a hint of tar. Palate: Firm, structured and deep, with ripe dark cherry, spice and earthy undertones framed by robust tannins. Finish: Long and savory, with lingering notes of leather and dried herbs.

Decant for an hour or more and serve with braised beef, wild boar ragù, truffle risotto or aged cheeses; it will reward further cellaring.
