APPROACH: Our first ever release of Single Barrel reinforces our effort to evolve the identity of bourbon by uniting heritage with modernity. Enlisting the collective expertise of some of the industry’s most respected master distillers and master blenders.
EXPRESSION: This very limited expression is exceptionally rare, given that each barrel was hand-selected by some of the most respected and discerning palates in the industry, representing a combined 116 years of master distilling and master blending experience between them. Each hand picked barrel was bottled at cask strength, sitting between 123.0 – 125.0 proof and are 5.1 years old.
APPEARANCE: A deep mahogany with full legs that glaze the glass.\
NOSE: Frank August’s Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon opens with some beautiful baking spices and notes of mild oak, before picking up a mix of sweet aromatics of vanilla and caramel.
PALATE: The baking spices are more pronounced, with cinnamon coming forward initially, before rye spices begin to gradually introduce themselves, warmly coating your mouth. At a 123.0 – 125.0 proof cask strength, there’s an intensity that is exceptionally balanced by some of the vanilla and caramel notes you initially pick up on the nose.
FINISH: A long and balanced finish that continues to develop between each taste. As the cask strength begins to wane, you’ll continue to pick up baking spices and hints of black cherries, layered between subtle notes of oak and vanilla.
