Description

Amaro Braulio has been made in Bormio, a mountain town in the Valtellina valley of Italy's Lombardy Alps, since the late nineteenth century, when it was created by local pharmacist Francesco Peloni. The recipe, still kept secret, is built on alpine herbs, roots and berries infused in alcohol and water, then aged in Slavonian oak casks in the cellars beneath Bormio. The result is a classic alpine amaro, more herbal and balsamic than sweet.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Pine, gentian, juniper, wormwood and fresh mountain herbs. Palate: Bittersweet and herbal with mint, licorice root, resinous pine and a light caramel sweetness. Finish: Long, cooling and pleasantly bitter.

Serve neat or over ice as an after-dinner digestivo, or use it in amaro cocktails and as a twist in a Manhattan or spritz.

Italian alpine amaro · 42 proof (21% ABV)
