Description

Jean-Luc Colombo and his wife Anne founded their family estate in Cornas in the late 1980s, and today the family crafts wines from several of the northern Rhône's historic appellations. Saint-Péray, just south of Cornas, is a small and rarely seen appellation devoted to white wines from Marsanne and Roussanne grown on granite and limestone soils. La Belle de Mai is the family's still Saint-Péray, a textured white that shows the richness and minerality of these northern Rhône varieties.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Pear, quince, apricot, acacia blossom and a hint of toasted almond. Palate: Medium to full bodied with a creamy texture, offering stone fruit, honeysuckle and citrus peel balanced by fresh acidity. Finish: Long and mineral, with subtle notes of hazelnut and spice.

Serve lightly chilled with roast chicken, veal, pork tenderloin, grilled river fish or creamy cheeses. Its texture also makes it a fine partner for mushroom dishes.

Saint-Péray, Northern Rhône, France · Marsanne and Roussanne
