Description

Giacomo Borgogno & Figli, founded in 1761 in the village of Barolo, is one of the most historic houses in Piedmont, and is renowned for keeping back significant stocks of older vintages in its cellars and releasing them as library wines. This Barolo Riserva is one of those mature releases: 100% Nebbiolo, made in the estate's traditional style with long maceration and extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks before a long rest in bottle at the winery.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Dried cherry, potpourri, tobacco, truffle, leather and sous-bois. Palate: Silky and resolved, with tertiary notes of dried fruit, mushroom, tea and spice over soft, fully integrated tannins and lively acidity. Finish: Very long and ethereal, with dried rose, earth and balsamic notes.

Stand the bottle upright for a day, decant gently off its sediment and serve with white truffle dishes, roast game or aged Castelmagno.
