Description

Gérard Bertrand, a former rugby player turned winemaker, has become one of the leading figures of southern France, building a family of estates across Languedoc-Roussillon with a strong commitment to biodynamic farming. Château de Villemajou is his family's original estate, where he learned winemaking alongside his father Georges, in the Boutenac cru of the Corbières. The Grand Vin is the estate's flagship red, a blend of Mediterranean varieties led by old-vine Carignan with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, aged in oak.

Tasting Notes: Nose: black cherry, blackberry, garrigue, licorice and toasted oak. Palate: full-bodied and concentrated, with dark fruit, cocoa, black pepper and firm, ripe tannins. Finish: long, spicy and savory.

Decant and serve with roast lamb, beef stew, wild boar or aged hard cheeses; it can also be cellared for several years.

Corbières-Boutenac AOC, Languedoc · dry red wine
