Description

Feudi di San Gregorio was founded in 1986 in Irpinia, in the mountainous interior of Campania, and under the Capaldo family has become the reference point for the region's native grapes. Taurasi, often called the "Barolo of the South," was the first DOCG of southern Italy and is made from Aglianico grown on the high hills around the village of Taurasi. Feudi's Taurasi is aged in oak barrels and further in bottle, delivering a structured, age-worthy red.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Black cherry, plum and blackberry with notes of violet, leather, tobacco and black pepper. Palate: Full-bodied and firm, with ripe dark fruit, robust tannins and bright acidity, plus savory hints of earth and spice. Finish: Long and structured, with lingering licorice and cocoa.

Decant and serve with grilled lamb, braised beef, game stews or aged Caciocavallo and pecorino.
