Description

Domaines Schlumberger was founded in 1810 in Guebwiller, in southern Alsace, and remains family-owned; it holds one of the largest grand cru vineyard holdings in the region, much of it on steep terraced slopes worked partly by horse. Le Clos Saint-Léger is a monopole parcel within the steep Kitterlé grand cru, owned solely by the family and bottled separately as one of the estate's rarest cuvées. This Riesling is a pinnacle expression of Kitterlé's volcanic sandstone terroir, made in very limited quantities.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Candied lemon, apricot, white flowers, petrol and crushed stone. Palate: Intense and layered, with ripe citrus and stone fruit, great tension and a saline, smoky minerality. Finish: Exceptionally long and refined, with lingering spice and citrus peel.

A wine for special occasions: serve with lobster, turbot, langoustines or roast poultry, or cellar for many years.
