Description

Château Latour is one of the five First Growths of the 1855 Classification, located in southern Pauillac near the Gironde estuary and named for the stone tower that remains a landmark of the estate. Owned by François Pinault's Groupe Artémis since 1993, it is renowned for wines of immense power, consistency and longevity. The grand vin comes primarily from L'Enclos, the historic vineyard around the château, and is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon; 2011 was a challenging vintage in which Latour stood out as one of the Médoc's successes.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, tobacco and a hint of dried herbs. Palate: Full-bodied and structured, with concentrated dark fruit, savory minerality and firm, fine-grained tannins. Finish: Long, classically dry and precise.

Pair with roast lamb, prime rib or game. Decant for one to two hours before serving.
