Description

Château Latour is one of the five First Growths of the 1855 Classification, located in southern Pauillac near the Gironde estuary and named for the stone tower that remains a landmark of the estate. Owned by François Pinault's Groupe Artémis since 1993, it is renowned for wines of immense power, consistency and longevity. The grand vin comes primarily from L'Enclos, the historic vineyard around the château, and is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon; the magnum format is prized by collectors for slow, graceful aging.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Cassis, blackberry, cedar, graphite and violet. Palate: Full-bodied and powerful, with dense dark fruit, layers of spice and minerals, and firm, polished tannins. Finish: Exceptionally long and complex.

Pair with roast lamb, beef Wellington or game. Decant for several hours when young; built for decades of cellaring.

Pauillac, Bordeaux · First Growth (1855) · Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend · Magnum
