Description

Château Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux's five First Growths and the only estate outside the Médoc included in the 1855 Classification, with a winemaking history stretching back to the 16th century. Located in Pessac on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux, it has been owned by the Dillon family (Domaine Clarence Dillon) since 1935. The grand vin is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grown on deep gravel soils and aged in new French oak, renowned for its complexity and extraordinary longevity.

Tasting Notes: Nose: cassis, black cherry, tobacco, cigar box, smoky graphite and a hint of truffle. Palate: full-bodied and seamless, with layered dark fruit, earth, cocoa and mineral notes supported by dense, silky tannins. Finish: exceptionally long and complex, with lingering smoke, spice and cassis.

Best after extended cellaring; decant and serve with roast lamb, beef Wellington, game or truffle dishes.
