Description

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth of the 1855 Classification and one of the most revered estates in Saint-Julien, its Victorian-era château overlooking the Gironde estuary. Owned by the Borie family since 1941, the estate takes its name from the "beautiful pebbles" of its deep gravel soils. The grand vin is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend with Merlot, aged in new French oak, prized for its power, precision and remarkable longevity.

Tasting Notes: Nose: cassis, blackberry, pencil shavings, cedar and violet. Palate: full-bodied yet refined, with layers of dark fruit, graphite, cocoa and sweet spice framed by dense, ultra-fine tannins. Finish: very long and polished, with lingering cassis and mineral notes.

Best after extended cellaring or a long decant; serve with roast rack of lamb, beef Wellington or aged Comté.
