Description

Barton & Guestier traces its roots to 1725, when Irishman Thomas Barton founded a wine trading house in Bordeaux; Daniel Guestier later joined the business, and B&G is today regarded as the oldest wine merchant house in Bordeaux. Its range of appellation wines extends well beyond Bordeaux to France's other classic regions, including the Rhône Valley. Les Roches Noires is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the southern Rhône's most celebrated appellation, a Grenache-led blend with Syrah and Mourvèdre from vineyards known for their sun-warmed stony soils.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Ripe raspberry, black cherry and plum with garrigue herbs, leather and spice. Palate: Full-bodied and generous, with dark red fruit, licorice, warm spice and velvety tannins. Finish: Long and savory, with lingering pepper and kirsch.

Pair with roast lamb with herbs, beef daube, game birds or mushroom dishes. Decant for best results.
