Description

Weinlaubenhof Kracher in Illmitz, on the shores of Lake Neusiedl in Austria's Burgenland, is world-famous for its botrytized sweet wines, built to legendary status by the late Alois "Luis" Kracher and now run by his son Gerhard. The estate's dry (trocken) range shows the same precision in a food-friendly style; this Pinot Gris is grown in the warm Pannonian climate around the lake and fermented dry for a textured, generous white.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Ripe pear, yellow apple, almond and a hint of smoke. Palate: Round and medium-bodied with stone fruit, melon and subtle spice, balanced by fresh acidity. Finish: Smooth, nutty and lightly mineral.

Pair with roast chicken, pork tenderloin, creamy pasta, mushroom dishes or mild cheeses.
