Description

Hewitson is the South Australian winery founded by winemaker Dean Hewitson, who built his reputation working with old vines and site-specific fruit from the Barossa and beyond. Its signature wine is the Old Garden Mourvèdre, sourced from a historic vineyard at Rowland Flat in the Barossa Valley planted in the 1850s and regarded as one of the oldest Mourvèdre plantings in the world. These ancient, low-yielding vines produce small crops of intensely concentrated fruit with remarkable depth and texture.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Blackberry, mulberry and plum with notes of earth, leather, dried herbs and spice. Palate: Full-bodied and layered, with dark fruit, savory meatiness, cocoa and fine, firm tannins. Finish: Long and complex, with lingering spice and mineral notes.

Decant before serving and pair with slow-roasted lamb, game, beef stew or hard aged cheeses.
