Description

Affentaler is a cooperative winery in Bühl-Eisental in Germany's Baden region, where vineyards climb the western foothills of the Black Forest. The name means "Valley of the Monkeys," and the wines are known for their distinctive bottle with a monkey embossed in the glass. This Spätburgunder is Pinot Noir, Germany's leading red grape, grown in Baden, one of the country's warmest wine regions.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Red cherry, raspberry and a light touch of forest floor. Palate: Medium-bodied and supple, with ripe red fruit, soft tannins and fresh acidity. Finish: Smooth and gently spiced, with lingering cherry.

Serve slightly cool (around 60°F) alongside roast chicken, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes or salmon.
