Description

Chalk Hill was founded in 1972 by Fred Furth in the Chalk Hill area of northeastern Sonoma County, where volcanic, chalky-white soils inspired its name; since 2010 the winery has been part of the Foley family of estates. Chardonnay has always been the estate's signature grape. This bottling draws on vineyards in the cool, fog-influenced Russian River Valley, fermented and aged partly in French oak for a balanced, classic Sonoma style.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Golden apple, Meyer lemon, pear and toasted brioche. Palate: Medium to full-bodied with creamy texture, ripe orchard fruit, citrus and a touch of vanilla, kept fresh by bright acidity. Finish: Long and rounded with hints of hazelnut and baking spice.

Pair with roast chicken, crab cakes, butter-poached lobster or pasta in cream sauce.
