Description
Booker’s Rye 13 Year Old “Big Time Batch” 2016 Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey is an extraordinarily rare and historically significant expression from the legendary Jim Beam Distillery. Released in 2016 as the first rye whiskey ever bottled under the prestigious Booker’s name, this exceptional limited edition honors the legacy of sixth-generation Master Distiller Booker Noe and his lifelong dedication to crafting bold, uncompromising American whiskey.
The story of Booker’s Rye began in 2003, when Booker Noe personally selected and filled a small collection of rye whiskey barrels during the final years of his life. Known for his innovative approach to distilling and his passion for experimenting with different grain recipes, Booker recognized the unique potential of rye whiskey and carefully laid down these barrels in one of his favorite aging warehouses.
Following Booker’s passing in 2004, the precious barrels remained undisturbed for more than a decade. His son, seventh-generation Master Distiller Fred Noe, eventually selected the whiskey for release in 2016, preserving his father’s original vision and creating one of the most celebrated limited-edition American rye whiskeys.
Aged for exactly 13 years, 1 month, and 12 days in new charred American oak barrels, Booker’s Rye “Big Time Batch” was bottled uncut and unfiltered at an extraordinary 136.2 proof (68.1% ABV). This powerful barrel-strength expression captures the full intensity of its extended maturation, delivering remarkable richness, complexity, and an unmistakably bold rye character.
The whiskey exhibits a deep amber color with luxurious aromas of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and baking spices. Its full-bodied palate reveals layers of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, sweet oak, and vibrant rye spice, balanced by a long, warming, and exceptionally complex finish.
The limited 2016 release is distinguished by its signature green wax-sealed bottle, individually numbered limited-edition label, and specially designed wooden presentation case. Its connection to some of the final barrels laid down by Booker Noe gives this remarkable expression exceptional historical significance.
