Description

Founded in 1824 on the Easter Elchies estate above the River Spey, The Macallan is one of the most celebrated names in single malt Scotch, renowned for its sherry-seasoned oak casks and its exceptionally rare collectible releases. Down To Work belongs to The Macallan's Anecdotes of Ages Collection, created with the British pop artist Sir Peter Blake, who designed a series of individual labels each telling a story from the distillery's history; this bottling presents one of those labels in special Sir Peter Blake packaging and is among the rarest releases The Macallan has offered.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Deep dried fruits, polished oak, rich sherry, old leather and dark toffee with hints of orange peel and wood spice. Palate: Silky and layered, with raisin, fig, dark chocolate, honeyed malt and warm cinnamon and clove, framed by refined, mature oak. Finish: Exceptionally long and elegant, with lingering sherry, dried citrus and gentle smoke-tinged spice.

A collector's piece best savored neat, in a tulip glass, with a few drops of water if desired.
