Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep amber with warm copper and golden highlights.
Aroma: Inviting aromas of vanilla bean, buttery caramel and brown sugar are joined by ripe cherry, orange peel, cinnamon and lightly toasted oak.
Palate: Smooth and rounded with layers of rich toffee, creamy vanilla, dark caramel and sweet corn. Notes of ripe plum, red berries and dried fruit develop alongside baking spices, roasted nuts, leather and charred oak.
Finish: Long, warm and pleasantly sweet, leaving lingering flavors of vanilla, caramelized sugar, cinnamon, black pepper and polished oak.
Buffalo Trace Distillery History
Located along the banks of the Kentucky River in Frankfort, Buffalo Trace Distillery occupies a site where whiskey has been produced for more than two centuries. Its name honors the ancient pathways carved through the wilderness by migrating buffalo—trails that later guided explorers and settlers westward.
The historic distillery has operated under several names and survived floods, fires, economic downturns and Prohibition. During Prohibition, it was one of the few American distilleries permitted to continue producing whiskey for medicinal purposes. Today, Buffalo Trace carries forward this remarkable Kentucky whiskey-making tradition and produces some of America’s most celebrated bourbons.
